Sports Physicals & DOT Physicals
Get a Free Sports Physical at Your Wellness Visit
All Seasons Family Health Care providers in Wasilla, Alaska perform DOT physicals and sports physicals. These two types of physicals are special because the doctor has to evaluate your health with respect to the job or sport you perform. These physicals are not as comprehensive as the wellness exam, but they do capture your overall health profile and fitness level.
Sports physicals are generally required before you or your child can play on a sports team, whether it is football, soccer, baseball, swimming, etc. Sports physicals are typically not covered by insurance; however, we offer a free sports physical with any wellness visit. A wellness exam is typically covered 100% by insurance.
DOT physicals are required for anyone whose occupation falls under the Department of Transportation. This applies to most truck drivers, bus drivers, and any other job that requires a commercial driver’s license (CDL). DOT physicals are not covered by your insurance and we will not bill for them. We at All Seasons Family Health Care charge $150.00for a DOT physical. DOT physicals are by appointment only with Sarah Nielsen, ANP, IFMCP. Some employers reimburse for DOT physicals.
If there are no concerns during the physical, the provider will sign a form that says you are cleared for sports or work. If you have a condition that limits your ability to engage in sports or perform your job, such as a heart condition, diabetes, or asthma, our provider can notate that on the form as a restriction. In some cases, you may be referred to a specialist or given a recommendation to address a health concern before being cleared for an activity or job.
